The Chiefs’ losing was extended to four with a 7-6 loss “featuring” a five-run rally in the 9th when six was needed to tie. Tommy Milone was trampled for six runs on 10 hits and a walk over four innings for his second loss. Phillips Valdez steadied the ship with three innings of one-run relief on five hits while Jimmy Cordero added a scoreless 8th. Every batter mearched in the 13-hit parade, led by Irving Falu and Mark Reynolds who both singled and doubled. Roster move: IF Adrian Sanchez optioned from Washington.

Drew Ward’s two-out solo HR tied it in the 9th but Kelvin Rodriguez was thrown out at home in the top of the 10th while the feared bunt-walk-sacrifice fly sequence took down Harrisburg in the 10th for a 3-2 loss. Jaron Long started and allowed two unearned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six for the no-decision. The loss went to Roman Mendez after setting down the side in order in the 9th. Gutierrez singled twice and stole two bases but was the only Senator to reach base twice as the Thunder held them to just four hits and two walks total.

Hagerstown’s quest for win #10 was denied by Kannapolis, 11-4. Carlos Acevedo pitched a season-high five innings but was strafed for 10 hits and let in three runs for his second loss. Steven Fuentes was knocked around for the final four runs over three innings on five hits. Kameron Esthay tripled, singled, and scored a run to lead the Suns hit column. Jack Sundberg struck five times in five at-bats; the rest of the lineup wasn’t much better as they accounted for nine more whiffs.
