The Chiefs took their third straight while breaking into double digits again for both runs and hits for a 10-3 win vs. the RailRiders in the series opener. Cesar Vargas finally won a game with a quality start of three runs on three hits (one HR) over six innings. He walked four and struck out three. John Simms tossed three scoreless for the save, his second. Matt Reynolds and Jacob Wilson both went 3-for-5 with two runs scored to lead Syracuse’s 15-hit parade. Roster moves: RHP Justin Miller recalled to Washington; RHP Austin Adams placed on the 3-Day TIL; RHP Carlos Torres outrighted from Washington.

Harrisburg extended its win streak to six with a 14-2 demolition of Altoona. Brady Dragmire was lifted after 90 pitches and eight innings of two-run ball on six hits in favor of Jaron “Yup, My Dad’s Kevin” Long who held the 12-run lead with a scoreless 9th. Dragmire struck out five and went 2-for-5 at the plate. Taylor Gushue and Osvaldo Abreu homered and combined for six RBI while Adam Walker drew four of the team’s 12 walks to lead the Sens’ 10-hit assault.

Hagerstown knocked out 14 hits, including four by 18-y.o. Luis Garcia, in a 7-2 win over Greensboro. Tomas Alastre got the start and the win as he allowed both Grasshopper runs on six hits and a walk over five innings while striking out three. Steven Fuentes closed it out with four scoreless to earn the save, his second. Garcia walked, doubled, drove in two, and singled three times while Nick Banks went 3-for-5 with a run scored to lead the Suns offense, which also included a pair of stolen bases apiece for Banks and Armond Upshaw.
