Syracuse came back from a 3-0 deficit to tie it at 3-3 in the 9th but fell to Buffalo in 10th, 4-3 for its first extra-innings loss, and third straight loss overall. Cesar Vargas notched a quality start with three runs allowed (two earned) on seven hits and no walks over six innings while striking out five. The loss went to Austin Adams who let in the runner placed on 2nd on a one-out single. Mark Reynolds doubled and homered while scoring a run and driving in two while Bengie Gonzalez went 2-for-4 to lead the Chiefs offense. Roster moves: OF Alejandro De Aza placed on the 7-day disabled list retroactive to May 2.

The Senators were shut on four hits, 9-0 by the Thunder. Jefry Rodriguez took the brunt of the beating with eight runs let in on eight hits and three walks over just two and a 1/3rd innings for his third loss. Logan Darnell stranded two while getting out of the 3rd and allowed one run of his own over the next three innings. Daniel Johnson extended his modest hit streak to five games with two singles in three trips to the plate while Drew Ward improved his OBP to .214 with his fifth and sixth walks (pay no attention to that .057 BA) as Harrisburg managed just seven total baserunners.

Carter Kieboom’s grand slam in the bottom of the 9th was too little, too late as Salem outslugged the P-Nats 5-3 in HRs and 9-7 on the scoreboard. Rhett Wiseman and Juan Soto (pictured above) also went deep (over all three levels of fencing for Soto). Joan Baez was lit up for six runs on eight hits including two HRs over four innings for his second loss. He walked one and struck out three. Anthony Rendon played the field and went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored while Wiseman, Edwin Lora, and Telmito Agustin each had two hits to pace the Potomac offense.

The Suns held the Intimidators scoreless four innings last night. The other four? Not so much. Kannapolis racked up 15 hits and 11 runs while shutting out Hagerstown, 11-0 on four hits. Starter Nick Raquet was stung for five runs on nine hits and two walks to lose for the third time. Sam Held (3R, 3IP) and Jared Brasher (1IP, 3R) didn’t fare any better. With some help from the Kannapolis pitchers and defense, Hagerstown got ten baserunners on and returned the favor by going 0-for-12 with the five who got into scoring position. Roster move: LHP Alex Troop placed on the 7-Day DL.
