Lehigh Valley completed the sweep of Syracuse with a 5-2 win. Cesar Vargas lost for the fourth time and didn’t make it out of the 5th as the IronPigs smelted him for three runs on six hits and six walks over four and 2/3rds innings. David Goforth stranded three while getting the last out of the 5th but was pinged for a two-out, two-run HR put the game out of reach in the 7th. Irving Falu did his job and got three singles from the leadoff spot while Jose “Orange” Marmolejos and Jason Martinson each drove in one to pace the Chiefs’ five-hit, two-walk barrage.

Kelvin Gutierrez fell a HR shy of the cycle as the Sens scored seven runs in the last four innings to turn a 1-1 nailbiter into an 8-2 victory to take the series, 2-1. Jefry Rodriguez returned from the transaction wire to take his regular turn and notched his fifth quality start and third win with one run (HR) allowed over six and a 1/3rd innings, with five hits, two walks, and two whiffs. Bryan Harper got credit for the hold as he stranded one while getting the last two outs of the 7th. Drew Ward and Stephen Perez both reached base twice as Hagerstown piled up nine hits and five walks total. Roster moves: RHP Jefry Rodriguez optioned from Washington; OF Juan Soto recalled to Washington.

Lynchburg went to town on the Potomac ‘pen in the 8th, scoring six times en route to a 9-5 win and a three-game sweep of Potomac. Tyler Mapes got the start and tossed five innings of two-run ball on three hits and a walk while striking out three. Jordan Mills entered the game in the 8th and gave up three hits, one walk, and committed two errors before he was lifted without retiring a single batter (nor, presumably, a married one) and was tagged with the blown-save-loss. Bryan Mejia led the hit column with three singles while David Masters drove in three with a homer to lead the P-Nats attack.

The Shorebirds shut out the Suns on three hits to take the opener, 4-0. Tomas Alastre lost for the second time with thre first three Delmarva runs charged on three hits, including two home runs. He also hit a batter, walked a batter, and struck out a batter. Phil Morse was tapped for a solo HR in his Low-A debut. Cole Freeman and Aldrem Corredor both had a single and a walk, as did the rest of the Hagerstown lineup.

Andrew Lee got the start and walked five of 11 batters faced over an inning and 2/3rds for the no-decision. Sam Held pitched two scoreless innings, the 6th and 7th, to earn the win. Kameron Esthay and Alejandro Flores both drove in three as the Suns took advantage of the eight walks issued by scoring eight times on just seven hits.
