Syracuse said goodbye to 1st place made it five straight L’s with a 6-1 loss to Buffalo. Austin Voth didn’t make it out of the second as the Bisons trampled him for five runs on five hits and three walks over an inning and 2/3rds to hand him his first loss. John Simms got out of the inning and then threw three scoreless but the offense was mostly AWOL. Jose “Orange” Marmolejos broke up the shutout with a bases-loaded walk before Mark Reynolds and Matt Hague struck out. The Chiefs mustered just four hits and left on nine baserunners.

The Senators also dropped their fifth in a row, seventh of their last eight with a 4-0 shutout by the Thunder. Luis Reyes gave up all four Trenton runs on three hits, including a home run, and a walk while striking out one. Austen Williams followed with two scoreless innings and Kaleb Fleck one but it was for naught as the Harrisburg lineup went hitless aside from two batters. Kelvin Gutierrez went 2-for-3 with a walk while Yadiel Hernandez went 1-for-4.

The Suns twice led this one, 1-0 and 2-1 but couldn’t hold on and lose for the third straight game to Kannapolis, 4-3. Jackson Tetrault was knocked from the box in the 5th with all four Intimidator runs charged on four hits and a walk for his third loss. Ben Braymer let in both inherited runners before he got out of the inning then finished the game with three scoreless innings. Cole Freeman singled once and doubled twice while Branden Boggetto doubled once and walked twice to lead the Hagerstown offense.
