The Indians jumped on Paolo Espino for two runs in the 1st and shut out the Chiefs, 4-0 on Saturday night. Espino gave up all four Indianapolis runs on six hits and a walk whole striking out three to lose his first AAA game this season. Matt Grace and Jose Valverde held off the Indians the rest of the way, but the Syracuse offense was limited to just six hits. Caleb Ramsey was the bright spot with a double, walk, and a single in four trips to the plate.
| Harrisburg vs. Altoona — PPD The Sens were the first to cry uncle to the rain, calling it more than two hours prior to first pitch. They’ll try to make it up with a doubleheader this evening. Wilmington vs. Potomac — PPD The Blue Rocks and P-Nats called it a night last, sending Potomac down I-95 early to come home to host Carolina tonight. A makeup date is yet to be determined. Delmarva vs. Hagerstown — PPD Shortly after the Sens called it, the Shorebirds did likewise. Unlike the Sens, they’ll shoot for the doubleheader tomorrow night. West Virginia vs. Auburn — PPD The Doubledays were the third team to call off Saturday night’s action, announcing a makeup date on Saturday, July 18th for the Black Bears’ next trip to Auburn. |

GCL Update
The G-Nats broke even in their first week of play, taking two of three from the Mets but just one from Cardinals. As noted in the commnents, the SSS champion was Victor Robles, who was 11-for-20 with a double, triple, and two HRs for a Nintendo OPS of 1.609. Rehabbing Ian Dickson started twice for a combined line of two runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings.
DSL Update
The D-Nats also had a 3-3 week, which puts them at 10-15 after four weeks of play. The pitching has improved, with four of the top five starters sporting a sub-3.00 ERA, as has the batting, though just one of the top eight (in terms of ABs) has an OPS above .800 and five are below the league averag of .681.
