Taylor Hill was moved up a night, came up one out short of a quality start, and was outdueled by Brian Johnson in a 3-2 Pawtucket win over Syracuse. The 26-y.o. Tennessean gave up two runs on eight hits and two walks over five and 2/3rds and fanned four in his first loss of 2015. Lineup bookends Michael Taylor and Cutter Dykstra were 2-for-4 each, but the guys in the seven spots in between were 1-for-23 in the Chiefs’ third straight defeat.

The Rock Cats pounded Carolina League Pitcher of the Week Brian Rauh for 10 hits, four HR, and eight runs in a 13-6 smackdown of the Senators. Rauh walked none and struck out two over three and a 1/3rd innings while losing his first AA start. Pedro Severino homered twice and singled once to drive in three and lead the Harrisburg offense, which collected 10 hits and four walks total.

It’s hard to win when you give the opponent six free passes, as Nick Pivetta did in a 4-3 Potomac loss to Lynchburg to drop the series, 3-1. All three runs charged to the 22-y.o. Canadian got on via the walk in his three innings of work, as he gave up just one hit and struck out three in the loss. Isaac Ballou (3-for-4) and Khayyan Norfork (2-for-4) paced the P-Nats counterattack, which pulled within one with a run in the 4th and two in the 6th but was stifled over the final three innings.
