Catching Up On Transactions (UPDATED)

Catching Up On Transactions
Once upon a time, the visual pun here was a reference to how some moves would slip by and get “caught” by the weekly missive from Baseball America. This year, however, it feels more like my days covering small-town court and police blotters — something every day, and not always much rhyme or reason.

Without further vamping, here are the latest moves that have come since the last “News & Notes”…

SYRACUSE

• No official moves yet, but with a roster spot open and the announcement of a minor-league deal with 1B-OF Greg Dobbs, it seems likely he’ll be added in the next 24 hours.

HARRISBURG
• RHP Richie Mirowski placed on the 7-Day DL
• RHP Rafael Martin reassigned from Potomac
• IF Adrian Sanchez reassigned from Potomac

POTOMAC
• LHP Kylin Turnbull reassigned from Hagerstown
• 2B Tony Renda activated from 7-Day DL

HAGERSTOWN
• OF Wilman Rodriguez placed on the 7-Day DL
• IF Carlos Lopez reassigned from XST
• RHP Phillips Valdez reassigned from XST

Josh Johnson’s retroactive DL move seems to indicate that Sean Nicol’s stint with Syracuse will be a short one. Again. Likewise, it would seem that Sanchez will be covering Nicol’s absence, a la Randolph Oduber earlier this month.

Having watched Martin pitch on Friday night, he’s probably not coming back to Woodbridge. What’s less obvious is whether Turnbull’s stay in Potomac is to keep a full complement of arms in the ‘pen or if he’s up to stay. Neither Potomac nor Hagerstown have named a starter for this Thursday.

As always, if/when further moves are made within a reasonable period of time, this space will be updated.

UPDATE:
Potomac has announced its transactions, three of which were previously reported. The fourth is the activation of Tony Renda, who had been out since April 11th and returned to go 2-for-4, with a double, a walk, and a run scored in Frederick on Monday night.
