Basically, this is a reversal of the moves made on Tuesday. Higley was hit by a pitch on Thursday’s opening game and has not played since. Foat last appeared in a game on Sunday.
Baseball America issued its weekly transaction post yesterday. Among the moves not previously reported were two releases:
- RHP Adalberto Mieses
- LHP Graham Hicks
After a strong rookie season in the DSL (3-3, 2.98 in 2010), Mieses hit his ceiling in the GCL with two 5+ ERA, 1.61+ WHIP seasons in 2011 and 2012.
Hicks was originally drafted by Washington out HS in the 4th round of 2008 and was among three minor-leaguers traded to Chicago for the services of Tom Gorzelanny in January 2011. He was released late last spring by the Cubs, and signed as a FA by the Nationals shortly thereafter, but made just one appearance in the GCL.
