As previously noted, this is Rendon’s left ankle; not the one fractured twice previously, a.k.a. his right. Nationals GM Mike Rizzo has been on record as stating that this is good news because a break like this “probably heals quicker than a bad sprain,” and is not considered season-ending. Much, of course, depends on the type of fracture (lateral, medial, or posterior), whether it’s the result of an inversion (turned inward) or eversion (turned outward), and the degree of ligament damage (if any) — which is why Rendon will be seeing a specialist.
