By now many of you have already heard that Jesus Flores was optioned to AAA Syracuse and utilityman Brian Bixler was pulled from this afternoon’s game in Pawtucket, presumably headed for Logan for a flight to Pittsburgh. Garrett Mock is considered the most likely candidate to be DFA’d to make room.
Late this afternoon, the Harrisburg Senators announced that Luis Atilano has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Tuesday. He was replaced by Chris Rahl, an OF that was recently acquired from Arizona for future considerations.
The 27-year-old Rahl is a 2005 fifth-round pick who hit .291/.351/.462 for AAA Reno in 2010 but did not break camp with any of the Diamondback affiliates. He’s considered a hot-cold, defense-first OF (career .985FPct.) that’s spent 380 of his 645 career games at AA.
