Syracuse Chiefs — OFF DAY
Notes: The Syracuse Chiefs are off until Thursday, same as the parent club. They begin the second half by hosting the Pawtucket Red Sox for four games before making an eight-game swing through Norfolk, Va. and Charlotte, N.C.

Harrisburg Senators W, 5-3 @ Reading
Starting Pitcher: Kown (ND) 5IP 8H 3R 3ER 1BB 2K 1HR
Pitching Star: Martin (H, 6) 1⅔ IP 2H 0R 0BB 2K
Hitting Star #1: Lowrance 3-4, RBI
Hitting Star #2: Valdez 1-3, 2B, 3RBI
Notes: The Senators rallied for four runs with two outs and nobody on in the 8th for an improbable 5-3 win against the Reading Phillies. Jesus Valdez got the big hit with a two-run double, while Marvin Lowrance and Chris Marrero also collected RBI singles in the frame. Starter Andrew Kown went the first five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk, while Joe Bisenius got the rulebook win with his strikeout in the bottom of the seventh with two outs before leaving for Brad Coon, who started the eighth-inning rally with a single.

Potomac Nationals L, 4-1; W, 8-5 @ Salem
GAME ONE
Starting Pitcher: Bronson (L , 3-7) 4IP 6H 4R 4ER 3BB 4K
Pitching Star: Estrada 2IP 1H 0R 0BB 0K
Hitting Star #1: Lombardozzi 2-3, 2B
Hitting Star #2: Peacock 2-2, R, 2B, BB, SB, HR, RBI
Notes: Brian Peacock and Steve Lombardozzi combined for four hits, two doubles, and a home run. Unfortunately, the other seven batters went hitless as the Salem Red Sox prevailed 4-1. Evan Bronson took the loss, giving up all four runs in the bottom of the 4th on six hits and three walks.

GAME TWO
Starting Pitcher: Holder 3IP 3H 5R 2ER 3BB 3K
Pitching Star: Dill (W, 5-5) 2IP 1H 0R 1BB 2K
Hitting Star #1: Ortiz 3-3, 2R, 2B, 3RBI
Hitting Star #2: Lombardozzi 3-4, 2-2B, 4RBI
Hitting Star #3: Lyons 2-2, 3R, 2BB, SB
Notes: Steve Lombardozzi remained hot in the nightcap, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, the last of which was a bases-clearing shot in the top of the 3rd that gave Potomac a 7-2 lead after 2½ innings. Starter Trevor Holder labored through three innings, giving up five runs (two earned) while allowing three hits and three walks while striking out three.

Hagerstown Suns L, 4-0 (comp.); W, 5-4 (7 inn.) @ Greenville
COMPLETION OF SUSP. GAME
First Reliever: Garcia (L, 1-3) 3IP 3H 1R 1ER 0BB 3K
Pitching Star: Vasquez 1IP 1H 0R 0BB 3K
Hitting Star: Ramirez 2-4, 3B
Notes: In the completion from last night’s suspended game, The Drive got to the “starter” Luis Garcia with a run in the bottom of the third, which turned out to be all Greenville would need as two pitchers combined to limit the Suns to four hits over six innings to register a shutout.

GAME TWO (7 inn.)
Starting Pitcher: Smoker (W, 2-9) 5IP 6H 3R 3ER 0BB 5K
Pitching Star: Wort (SV, 7) 2IP 2H 1R 1ER 0BB 3K 1HR
Hitting Star #1: Bloxom 2-3, R, HR, 2RBI
Hitting Star #2: Niero 1-2, R, HR, 2RBI
Notes: In the “nightcap,” Adrian Nieto and Justin Bloxom each clubbed a two-run home run to power the Suns past the Greenville 5-4. Starter Josh Smoker broke a four-game winless streak with five serviceable innings of work, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out five.

Vermont Lake Monsters L, 13-2 @ State College
Starting Pitcher: Swynenberg 2IP 9H 6R 6ER 1BB 1K
Pitching Star: Cahill 2IP 4H 1ER 1BB 3K
Hitting Star #1: Kelso 2-5, R
Hitting Star #2: Martinson 1-2, R, 2BB, RBI
Notes: Vermont started out ahead, but that’s all that was going for them in this one. The Lake Monsters scored one in the 1st and State College answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning. But the Spikes weren’t done there, as they added two more in the 2nd, three more in the 3rd, and a couple of runs in the 5th and 7th innings. State then added two more in the 8th to make this one a blow out. The Lake Monsters added one in the 9th to make it a little less embarrassing but unfortunately that’s all they could muster as they lost 13-2. Starter Matt Swynenberg went two innings giving up nine hits, six runs, and one walk with the loss.

GCL Nationals W, 8-4 @ GCL Mets
Starting Pitcher: Scott Olsen 3IP 1H 1R 1ER 1BB 2K
Pitching Star: Billy Ott (SV, 1) 4IP 3H 0R 0BB 2K
Hitting Star #1: Mills Rogers 3-5, 2R, 2RBI
Hitting Star #2: Adrian Sanchez 2-5, 2R, 2-2B, RBI
Hitting Star #3: Michael Taylor 2-4, 3B
Notes: The G-Nats smacked the G-Mets for 15 hits en route to an 8-4 triumph. Six batters collected multiple hits, led by Mills Rogers (3-for-5). Scott Olsen allowed just a single run over three innings in his second rehab start, while Pat Lehman got the rulebook win with two ineffective innings in which he allowed two runs on three hits.

DSL Nationals vs. DSL Cubs2 — PPD
Notes: Rain gave the D-Nats an unscheduled day off. The two teams will play a doubleheader next Wednesday to make this game up.
