Rochester Red Wings, 26-19, 4th I.L. East, 2GB – 71-47 overall
With the Nationals all but conceding the Red Wings have no starters [insert Perales trade fail remark here], it would appear that we will have to suffer through another month of bullpen nights. Meanwhile, Trey Lipscomb was the I.L. Player of the Week after going 12-for-26 (.462) with 8R, two 2B, 4HR, 2-2B, and 10 RBI. He’s currently on a 13-game hit streak. This week, the Red Wings play their second token series against an I.L. West team (Omaha) for six nights.
Harrisburg Senators, 23-21, 3rd E.L. Southwest, 7½ GB – 57-56 overall
Harrisburg split with Richmond last week and continues to hover around .500. This week, it’s the Senators’ penultimate road trip of the season with a jaunt to Akron for five night games and a Sunday matinee.
Wilmington Blue Rocks, 25-22, 3rd Sally Lg. North, 4GB – 56-56 overall
After redeeming their frequent-stay rewards points in Wappinger Falls, NY, the Blue Rocks return home for seven against the division-leading Keys. Wilmington will need to win at least five to have any chance of overtaking Frederick in the second-half race.
Fredericksburg Nationals, 22-25, 4th C.L. North – 68-45 overall
After getting a reality check (one win, five losses) by first-place Fayetteville, the FredNats are back in FredVegas. Unless and until Fredericksburg can find some pitching—which seems unlikely with the collection of FCL misfits and social promotions—a first-round playoff exit seems to be the safe bet. This week, the Cannon Ballers visit for the usual five night games and a Sunday day game.

The D-Nats didn’t get shut out in their home finale – a 12-2 defenestration in seven innings. 19-y.o. Anyel Manzueta lost for the sixth time in eight starts and seventh game overall as he was charged with six runs on three hits and four walks over two and 2/3rds innings. 18-y.o. Junior Castillo singled twice and doubled once while Samil Serrano connected for his tenth double.
