Catching Up On Transactions

A few more moves were made today, as the shuffling between Extended Spring Training continues.

• IF Zach Walters activated from the DL
• C Sam Palace placed on the DL

• 1B Steve Souza activated from Potomac DL, assigned to Hagerstown
• 2B Hendry Jimenez assigned to Extended Spring Training
• LHP Ben Hawkins assigned to Hagerstown from Auburn

• LHP Christian Meza assigned to Auburn from Hagerstown

It’s been a busy week on the transaction front, with two posts and items in the notes. I repeated this morning’s Hagerstown-Auburn transaction above, but in keeping with the headline, here’s a recap:

• Xavier Paul placed on Syracuse restricted list (personal matter)
• IF Josh Johnson assigned to Syracuse from Harrisburg
• IF Chris McConnell assigned to Harrisburg from Syracuse
• C Jeff Howell assigned to Syracuse from Harrisburg
• C James Skelton assigned to Harrisburg from Potomac
• C Sam Palace activated from DL
• IF Brent Greer placed on the DL
• LHP Josh Smoker placed on the DL
• RHP Shane McCatty activated from XST, assigned to Potomac
• IF Cutter Dykstra activated from XST, assigned to Hagerstown
• OF Narciso Mesa assigned to XST from Hagerstown

Obviously more moves are coming, so I’ll do my best to keep you folks informed.

  1. I can’t believe that Shane McCatty is still in the organization. Even considering what his Dad does for a living.

  2. McCatty had a not-so-good stint in Hagerstown last year. Well, to the every day fan – miserable and forgettable. I honestly don’t know myself what they see in him or Souza. (face in palm)

  3. What was the deal with Chris Curran? Was in Potomac at season start but looks like he’s up in Auburn…what does that mean?

    1. Auburn and XST are essentially the same thing: limbo. I can’t remember this much shuffling in previous seasons, but much of it has to do with how many players are “there.” A positive spin is that they’re working guys in to give them some playing time. The negative spin is that players that aren’t producing are being sent to the JV. The truth is probably somewhere in between.
